Performance Engineer

As the Performance Engineer, you will support the development and execution of the test plans required to confirm the performance characteristics of a suite of applications within a healthcare environment hosted in the Azure gov cloud. The scope of work will include planning and coordination with project teams to align with the deployment milestones of the Program. This position will be responsible for elaborating and refining requirements related to performance engineering, documenting procedures, and developing, managing and executing performance engineering test scripts and collecting and evaluating performance observations. As the Performance Engineer, you will also be responsible for tracking and managing the relevant tasks in the project integrated master schedule.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Define and manage activities and tasks required to develop Performance Engineering (PE) test scripts and test data
- Execute the PE test scripts and collect performance observations
- Analyze PE results and make recommendations for improving system performance in terms of infrastructure and / or application remediation and refactoring
- Work in collaboration with the project teams to refactor applications as appropriate
- Develop a PE model to extrapolate the test results and forecast possible performance characteristics under different load and environment conditions
- Communicate with senior client and module contractor representatives
- Identify and manage risks and issues associated with the effort and escalate these to the appropriate levels of management within GDIT, the client and the module contractor
- Develop, manage and execute the PE planning and execution schedule, and monitor the effort through to completion and confirm that deadlines and requirements are met.
- Manage scope, review and report project status, and understand how to assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Manage communication of progress to internal and external stakeholders and escalate issues as necessary.
- Actively monitor project progress with an emphasis on problem solving.
- Use project management tools and processes to keep the budget and timeline on track
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
- Ten (10) years or more of IT experience
- Must have a minimum of 5+ years of overall experience in conducting and overseeing Performance Engineering efforts
- Must have hands-on experience working with PE tools such as JMeter in a cloud environment
- At least five (5) years of experience project management frameworks and best practices and the systems and software development life cycle, including scope, schedule, and risk identification and management.
- Worked in a multi-vendor environment to deliver a project for an external client
Skills:
