About the role

Description

  

Sr. Logistics Coordinator is a team member with relevant truck and rail experience to work with the logistics/marketing team(s) to execute the movement of products effectively and efficiently from a processing facility while balancing inventory levels and optimizing fleet utilization. This position will help manage the workflow between plants’ production with the flow of railcars and trucks to makes sure we are meeting the plants(s) execution needs as well as contract commitments. Sr. Logistics Coordinator will help manage the daily workflow with the ability to jump in and execute any task as needed. Successfully maintain the logistics model for all plant(s) and communicate directly with marketing on available logistics timing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Key point of contact on logistics communication
  • Maintain logistics model for each plant
  • Project timing for outbound loads vs. inbound car supply
  • Maintain relationships with railroads/trainmasters and truck carriers
  • Oversee overall fleet to optimize car cycle times efficiently
  • Monitor and communicate demurrage with customers as well as generate reporting for invoicing
  • Monitor individual plants’ logistics supply situation to match with inventory and sales
  • Analyze daily and monthly transportation reports to be provided to merchants, plants, and management. Present action plans to solve any transit problems
  • Generate bills of lading / shipping documents for the railroad and customers 
  • Maintain repair/maintenance records of railcars and schedule necessary contractors as needed. Present action plans and updates
  • Work with the relevant parties to resolve any customer issues and report any action plans or solutions
  • Monitor carriers’ websites or other information to be proactive with pertinent announcements
  • Make recommendations on new ideas and processes
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunistic curiosity and contributes to creating an environment where people want to work
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or other related area or equivalent in experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in logistics field
  • Agriculture commodity knowledge required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. 

Physical Demands 

  • Frequent sitting, use of computer, communication via telephone
  • Ability to navigate an office environment.
  • Ability to work after hours/weekends and on call as needed.
  • Job may require occasional travel within the United States.
