Job Description Summary:

The Department of Health Sciences at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a 14-month Post-doctoral Fellow position that will begin September 10, 2026. We seek an individual with expertise in health sciences, and additional experience in sustainability science is preferred. This multidisciplinary position will work directly with the lab director, in collaboration with other internal and external team members, on research projects that evaluate the health and sustainability impacts of diets and foods in the US context.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will lead several studies and will receive direct support from a multidisciplinary team. The Fellow will also receive mentoring on various professional development activities such as building a successful research team, pursuing funded research, navigating the scientific publishing process, presentation skills, and managing personnel.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:  

  • Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in nutrition, epidemiology, public health, data science, sustainability science, or a related field at the time appointment begins (September 10, 2026). 
  • Experience working with data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, or other relevant survey data; and 
  • Experience working with one or more programming/statistical languages, such as Stata, R, SAS, or other relevant programming/statistical languages. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience working on multidisciplinary research that uses secondary data, computational models, and statistical methods; 
  • Training in quantitative methods; 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; 
  • Experience in sustainability science.
