The Business Development Manager builds support for National University by prospecting and securing new business opportunities through corporate partnerships. The manager stewards strong relationships with key external constituent groups to include organizations and industry associations known and unknown to National University. The goal of these relationships is to attain partnerships for National University’s Workforce and Community Education division, which will result in enrollment growth for the university by creating pathways for employees to become aware of National University’s program offerings and educational benefits.
Additionally, the Business Development Manager designs, develops, delivers, and administers efforts related to establishing and maintaining these strategic partnerships to support the mission and initiatives. Identifies new prospects through research and evaluates, analyzes, and formulates strategies for growth in strategic partnerships. Provides high quality service to all constituencies of National University, affiliates, clients, and students, exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical principles. The manager frequently travels throughout their assigned geographic area of responsibility to meet with prospective and existing partners, attend events and meetings, and support business development initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Identify Fortune 1000 Corporate Partnerships for National University.
- Develop and grow strategic partnerships to achieve assigned partnership development goals and support enrollment objectives by maintaining existing partnerships and developing new business opportunities.
- Manage a portfolio of corporate partners as the primary point of contact and account owner, providing ongoing relationship management and support.
- Manage corporate contracts, vendor agreements, and invoice processes, ensuring timely execution, compliance with organizational requirements, and accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
- Contacts prospects (email, telephone, face-to-face, direct mail, and networking events) to schedule meetings and explain/answer questions and conduct presentations.
- Design and manage recruitment activities such as webinars, sponsorships, advertising, education fairs, trade shows, conferences, open house/information sessions, prospective student meetings.
- Develop an end-to-end understanding of business operations to promote new opportunities and identify potential barriers from inquiry to admit.
- Respond promptly to inquiries from internal clients, external partners, and corporate employees, ensuring a high level of customer service and communication.
- Performs prospect research with continual prioritization of targeted organization and activities.
- Applies traditional and innovative sales techniques to gain business.
- Develops and executes partnership agreements and MOU’s that drive student interest and admissions.
- Project manages activities with organizations including newsletter submittals, presentation creation, web site updates and links, flyers, etc. to ensure materials/advertising aligns to agreements.
- Project manages and follows through on enrollment activity to ensure client success and utilization.
- Meet and exceed established quarterly lead generation and enrollment goals.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a combination of business development, operations, and developing relationships with corporate leaders and academic professionals required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in higher education preferred.
- Experience developing and managing sales relationships with enterprise-level clients required.
- Experience with entering student information into an CRM platform, such as Salesforce, preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
