Transport & Logistics NL Relationship Management Client Management

We have an exciting Director position available within T&L’s sub-sector Shipping. You will be the first point of contact for a diversified international Shipping client base, steering the virtual client teams and ensure that we match our full range of product offering with our client requirements. This spans from creative financing solutions to transaction services, and from financial market products to strategic advisory like DCM and M&A.

Within the T&L sector international clients are covered from different locations, being; Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, New York, Singapore and Brussels. This position will require you to work cross border and utilize ING’s network to its highest extend.

T&L Amsterdam is an energetic and enthusiastic team covering numerous nationalities. Team members are always ready to help one another. Further it is interesting to note that many in the team started as trainee as well  the team has a continuous turnover of internees and trainees doing rotations. Last but not least, all in the Amsterdam team work closely together with our T&L colleagues in the other ING offices worldwide.

As Director you will be responsible for:

• Relationship management and business origination of Shipping companies mainly based in the Benelux

• Steering the cross border virtual client team consisting of sector and product colleagues

• Structuring, executing and monitoring (structured) lending transactions together with the colleagues from Lending

• Further actively engaging and collaborating with other ING disciplines including Corporate Finance, CS&A, Debt Capital Markets, Financial Markets, Sustainable Finance, Syndicated Finance and Transaction Services

• Developing junior colleagues as well as knowledge sharing within T&L globally 

• Utilize ING’s network to expand client relationships

• Make sure that you’re familiar with the latest sector developments and as such remain our client’s number one sparring partner

• Think beyond the existing business and boundaries, and proactively contribute to growing the international Shipping sub-sector, both in terms of number of clients and in terms of geographies

Qualification Requirements:

• At least 10 years of work experience in a transaction driven environment (financing, and preferably in the T&L - Shipping sector)

• You are an excellent team player in a multi-cultural environment;

• High level of self-motivation and commercial drive

• You understand what is needed in this role: you have a proven track record in structuring, negotiating and execution of transformational and/or complex (international) transactions and/or optimizing balance sheet and finance structures as well as providing strategic advice to clients

• You have a strong internal network and ability to build such network that allows you to have the right colleagues at the right time available for our clients

• You’re comfortable with giving responsibilities to your VCT members and keep an helicopter view to ensure that transactions are moving the right direction

• You’re broadly minded and able to apply that same helicopter when you consider developing client relationships in its widest perspective

• You’ve a proactive mind set-up, can think outside the box and you appreciate different opinions

• You’re a strong communicator with high proficiency in English (verbal & written);

• University degree

• You don’t mind travelling
