Beehive is committed to grow and advance the defense industrial base while manufacturing exclusively in the USA. This role will be located at our Loveland, OH facility.
Role Overview
As a Materials Engineering Intern at Beehive Industries, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to our materials engineering and manufacturing efforts. You will work closely with experienced professionals and learn about material characterization, testing, and process optimization within aerospace applications. This role will provide valuable insights into materials engineering and its application in a real-world setting, helping you develop essential skills for your future career.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Assist in the characterization and testing of metal alloys and other materials used in our products
- Support material property analysis, including tensile testing, fatigue testing, and metallographic evaluation.
- Contribute to the development of manufacturing maturation projects related to materials.
- Work with engineers to optimize material processing techniques.
- Document and analyze test results, contributing to material reports.
- Maintain inventory of materials and track usage in ongoing projects.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and design teams to ensure material requirements align with engineering needs.
- Accurately record data and observations during all test work.
- Identify and report quality issues that impact testing or processes.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in materials science, manufacturing processes, and related technologies.
- Familiarity with material testing methods and metallurgical analysis is a plus.
- Experience with microscopy or spectroscopy techniques is a plus.
- Ability to interpret and analyze material properties and performance data.
- Hands-on lab experience in materials testing and preparation is preferred.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, or similar field
- Must graduate December 2025 or later
- Must continue enrollment in degree program upon completion of the internship
