Colorado Springs Utilities’ Operations Division is looking for Engineer to join the Operations Engineering Group.  In this position, you will work with a team of engineers and engineering support staff to evaluate the condition and operation of existing water and wastewater assets to identify and prioritize rehabilitation, repair, replacement, and maintenance projects.  Join us in providing safe and reliable water and wastewater service to our community.

This position will be filled at the Engineer III or Engineer IV level; selection will be based on the qualifications, knowledge, certifications, and demonstrated experience level of the successful candidate.

Relocation is available for this position.

Key Areas of Focus: 

• Driving toward a world-class safety culture for the Unit, Section, Department, and Division
• Develop and lead program plans for managing condition of water and wastewater assets including but not limited to: pump stations, lift stations, valves, pipes, tanks, and creek crossings
• Define, oversee collection, verify, validate, analyze, and maintain condition assessment data for water and wastewater assets 
• Oversee engineering analytics for condition assessment reports and failure analysis reports
• Lead internal and or external projects for condition assessment and/or sustainment projects 
• Draft scopes of work, review, and advise on technical quality of submittal documents from external engineers and contractors for condition assessment and sustainment projects
• Design and manage risk models and predictive models in collaboration with asset management staff and or external contractors to identify probability and consequence of failure for water and wastewater assets
• Collaborate with planning and delivery staff in identifying, prioritizing, and executing rehabilitation, replacement, and/or maintenance projects
• Review new technologies and evaluate industry trends and direction
• Regularly communicate and engage with internal stakeholders in the Operations Division and external stakeholders such as State authorities
• Develop and encourage the foundation of relationships with customers in the Operations 
• Develop strategies and budgetary requirements and guide team members in support of Operations Division initiatives, goals, and programs
• Develop, recommend, and implement policies, standards, and procedures
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to engineers and technical staff
• Use decision analysis tools to support asset decisions and sustainment planning

Who You Are...

A self-motivated engineer who enjoys establishing condition assessment and data analysis processes, performing system and risk modeling activities, and serving a variety of stakeholders in the Operations Division.  In addition to the technical aspects of this job, you excel at taking initiative and driving projects forward, communicating and sharing information effectively and appropriately, possess sound critical thinking and decision-making ability, and strong interpersonal skills that will allow you to establish effective relationships with internal and external customers.  

• A Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline is required    
• Experience with systems/operations and risk modeling tools and Microsoft Power BI are beneficial.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly valued
