About the role

<h3>Minimum qualifications:</h3><ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.<br/></li> <li>10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.<br/></li> <li>10 years of experience working in public affairs, political communications, or political campaigns.</li> <li>Experience in technology policy issues with institutions or within an in-house corporate policy function.</li> <li>Ability to speak and write in English and Dutch fluently, as they would be communicating with Dutch stakeholders and would require to understand Dutch written legislation.</li> </ul><br/><h3>Preferred qualifications:</h3><ul> <li>Experience working with or in the Dutch government, NGOs, regulatory agencies, or corporate public policy teams.</li> <li>Experience analyzing, studying, providing insights, or advocating for digital-related policies, both at national and European levels.</li> <li>Experience working with cross-functional teams and a variety of stakeholders, and executing strategies to deliver solutions.</li> <li>Knowledge of Internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them.</li> <li>Ability to identify and gather insights and effectively communicate technology policy issues.</li> </ul><h3>About the job</h3><p>As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.</p> In this role, you will develop, organize and manage various policy campaigns, projects and initiatives, while tracking various regulatory proposals and analyzing their potential impact on Google’s business. You will help educate policymakers and key advisors, advise internal teams on the political landscape, and work across Google to develop coherent, business plans to advocate for Google’s public policy priorities.<p>Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.</p>In this role, you will develop, organize and manage various policy campaigns, projects and initiatives, while tracking various regulatory proposals and analyzing their potential impact on Google’s business. You will help educate policymakers and key advisors, advise internal teams on the political landscape, and work across Google to develop coherent, business plans to advocate for Google’s public policy priorities.<h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul> <li>Develop and lead public policy campaigns across the full range of policy areas that impact Google and the web, at a local level in the Netherlands and at regional levels in Northern Europe and EU.</li> <li>Engage with policymakers, industry players, think tanks, and opinion formers to help shape policy and political dialogue on Google’s policy efforts.</li> <li>Work with Sales, Legal, Communications, Marketing, and other teams across Google, both locally and internationally, to execute outreach programs on policy priorities.</li> <li>Monitor and research current and relevant public policy issues.</li> <li>Build and drive a network of trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups, and other stakeholders to support policies that will help create and maintain a user-focused online environment.</li> </ul>
