Mission: The Mission of St. PJ's Children's Home is to be a safe and loving refuge for children in crisis and to accompany them on their journey to healing and wholeness, breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect one child at a time.

Summary:

Under the general direction of the Lead Medical Coordinator, the Medical Coordinator assists with the coordination and implementation of medical services provided to UAC. The Medical Coordinator uses sound medical and professional judgment and best practices to support the medical safety and well-being of UAC. The Medical Coordinator works collaboratively with Lead Medical Coordinator to ensure the medical, dental, mental health and physical needs of UAC are met in accordance with agency policy, TDFPS Minimum Standards, and ORR Policy. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • *Perform triage assessments to evaluate patient symptoms and overall needs, determining the level of urgency and coordinating the appropriate medical response or referral. 
  • *Actively participating in case staffings and meetings, and following up with recommendations;
  • *Compiling, preparing, submitting and maintaining accurate records, files, forms, statistics and additional information in accordance with agency policy, DFPS Minimum Standards and ORR Policy;
  • *Ensuring medical services are completed and documented in the UAC Portal within required timeframes and in accordance with agency DFPS Minimum Standards and ORR Policy;
  • *Completing and submitting reports within required timeframes;
  • *Providing health education and training for staff and UAC;
  • *Assisting with the maintenance of medical supply, prescription medication, and over-the-counter medication inventories;
  • *Providing oversight and monitoring of medication administration to UAC including, medication counts, label accuracy, and      reporting of medication errors;
  • *Maintaining the safety and well-being of children through supervision, adherence to program policies, and appropriate interventions. This may  include the use of approved crisis management techniques, such as physical containment, when necessary to protect the child or others from harm.”
  • *Scheduling accompanying and/or providing transportation to medical appointments when needed;
  • Ensuring medical services are provided in a manner that promotes best practices and facilitates the optimum delivery of quality      trauma informed care to UAC;
  • Completing other assigned duties in absence of the Medical Clerk or Lead Medical Care Coordinator; 
  • Actively participating in the enhancement and/or improvement of the living and working environment for residents and employees;
  • Attending administrative staff meetings, staff retreats, and other team building activities as scheduled;
  • Demonstrating knowledge and sensitivity of cultural norms, values and heritage; 
  • Assuming ON-CALL duties after regular business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays;
  • Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics;
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others;
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors’ names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information;
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Morals Policy is mandatory;
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization
  • Attendance and successful completion of a 10- day New Employee Orientation is mandated for the position. The inability to meet this requirement will conclude employment with the Agency;
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director.
