The Patient Resource Specialist plays a pivotal role in assisting with various patient needs including reimbursement support, pharmacy assistance, and other resources critical to their care journey. This individual will collaborate closely with our Patient Coordinators, serving as a resource for patient-related administrative tasks and ensuring seamless coordination of services.
Responsibilities
- Assist and educate patients in navigating DOL reimbursement paperwork and procedures.
- Collaborate with Patient Coordinators to address reimbursement-related issues and facilitate timely resolution.
- Coordinate prior authorization and enrollment of pharmacy assistant programs.
- Provide administrative support to Patient Coordinators in managing medication related tasks and documentation.
- Assist patient in accessing reimbursement for medical-related travel expenses, including transportation, lodging, and meals.
- Work closely with Patient Coordinators to assess patient needs and coordinate travel-related reimbursement documentation as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of patient interaction, services provided, and outcomes.
- Assist Patient Coordinators in generating documentation to track patient progress, monitor resource utilization, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Maintain current list of area resources to assist patients with socioeconomic needs.
- Provide education and assistance to Patient Coordinators, patients, and/or caregivers in obtaining needed resources.
- Create the letter of medical necessity for medications, rehabilitative therapies and other patient needs which require DOL preapproval.
- Coordinate with service providers to obtain DOL authorization.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a Care Team or Billing/Medical Records/Revenue Cycle
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Pre-authorization experience preferred.
