Central ServiceOverview of Position:
Cleans, disinfects, and terminally sterilizes instruments and equipment. Knowledgeable of the function, operation, and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment utilized for the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Demonstrates knowledge required to accurately assemble all components of trays used within area of responsibility.
2. Keeps equipment coordinator informed of any problems or suspected problems with the various pieces of equipment and instruments in their assigned area.
3. Uses various sterilization processes that are in place including steam, Sterrad and Steris.
4. Maintains event related sterility according to procedure.
5. Demonstrates understanding of the decontamination and sterilization process of instruments and equipment used throughout the hospital.
6. Demonstrates an understanding of instruments and instrument trays used on a daily basis and the maintenance of those instruments and instrument trays.
7. Demonstrates the correct use of Impress Instrument Tracking System in each area.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Certified in Sterile Processing and Distribution or obtain within two years of employment.
3. Knowledgeable of medical terminology.
4. Demonstrate interest and ability to learn required psychomotor skills.
5. Solid interpersonal skills including: listening, talking, patience, judgment, initiative, and ability to relate with others.
6. Ability to speak, read, write, and follow instruction manuals written in English.
