Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a leader with a strong background in water resources to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and planners in our Twin Cities metro area. The role of the Senior Resource Team Leader (SRTL) for Water Resources is to manage and support our front-line supervisors with responsibility for mentoring and facilitating their professional growth and overseeing an entire group of water resources professionals. This is a critical role in helping staff meet key performance indicators as well as providing opportunities for team members to achieve their career and business objectives. This role will report directly to a member of the regional leadership team. As the SRTL you will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities along with a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is paramount. 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of water resources professionals.
  • Leading by example, promote Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) SaferTogether culture, and implementation of and compliance with HSSE policy.
  • Set, manage, and monitor performance and career development goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to direct reports with the development of priorities for them and their teams. Example performance goals include safety, utilization, sales, project delivery, and more. Example career development goals include technical advancement, project management, increased exposure and experience to different aspects of our business that align with the team member’s career aspirations and business needs, etc.
  • Coordinate with team leads on staff workload, availability, and resourcing and facilitate communication, collaboration and work sharing across teams. Support team leads in achieving their teams’ utilization and project delivery goals. Facilitate communication with other teams, business centers, regions, and business operating units where appropriate to assist in meeting utilization goals and other KPIs.
  • Coordinate appropriate level of support for hard backlog and business development opportunities with other business developers. Where applicable, support members of the team in achieving their sales/marketing & business development /client relationship development goals, as appropriate to their roles.
  • Work with your team leads to address personnel or project issues as they arise and facilitate engagement with regional leadership and HR as appropriate.
  • Provide supervisory management to team leads and support their teams, including providing opportunities for staff engagement, identifying growth/development needs, and recruiting new hires.
  • Meet regularly with your team leads to review and address current and forecasted workload, utilization, sales/BD, hiring needs, and other areas important to the performance of the team. 
  • Lead the mid-year and annual performance review process for direct reports and complete pursuant to Stantec policy. Support and guide team leads through the process for their direct reports. 
  • Contribute to technical project work within your area of expertise (e.g., project delivery, business development, project management).
  • Collaborate with technical leads on the team’s technical advancement, quality processes, project delivery, and project management.
  • Assist with forecasting and achievement of key financial targets (e.g., individual and overall team utilization), including reviewing and approving timecards and expense reports.
  • Assist leadership with staff onboarding, integration and collaboration between disciplines, sectors and regions.
  • Assist leadership with identifying needs and implementing training and staff development initiatives. Support career development for your individual team members. 
  • Working from a Stantec office at least 3 days per week to promote in-person interactions, mentorship, collaboration, and innovation is preferred.
  • Travel to project sites and other offices as required and approved.
