St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is actively looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Research Services Technologist to join the ARC Department Research Services unit within the ARC Department.

The Senior Research Services Technologist will deliver advanced technical support for research protocols and murine health programs, emphasizing efficiency, reliability, and quality essential for reproducible results. This role involves working in routine murine environments and specialized housing areas, including quarantine, Specific Pathogen-Free (SPF) production zones, and biohazard containment facilities.

The ideal candidate will uphold a high standard of customer service and communicate effectively with research personnel, ARC staff, and external representatives. Additionally, the Senior Research Services Technologist is expected to design and execute in vivo projects collaboratively with research teams, ensuring comprehensive project management from inception to completion.

 

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and specialized procedures within area (e.g., aseptic tissue collection, implantation of osmotic pumps and microchips, vasectomies, necropsy, euthanasia) as applicable.

• Proactively engage with other personnel, researchers, and external partners to understand and address research/vet service needs.

• Maintain relevant documentation and records (e.g., murine health records, medical histories, abnormal observations).

• Support planning and procurement of supplies within own area.

• Contribute to developing and implementing new processes/procedures/treatments, as applicable.

• Assist in the maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), forms, and systems.

• Guide early career team members on standard tasks within area.

• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• High School Diploma/GED required.

• Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Lab Murine Science, Biology, Toxicology, or Agricultural preferred.

Minimum Experience:

• Minimum requirement: 5+ years of experience in a professional murine care facility (e.g., zoo, veterinary clinic, laboratory murine facility) with a High School Diploma/GED.

• Experience Exception: 4+ years of experience with Associate's degree

• Experience Exception: 2+ years of experience with Bachelor's degree.

• Prior experience within this ARC unit (e.g., murine handling and restraint, murine health monitoring, operation and sanitization/sterilization of equipment, sample collection) is preferred.

• Experience working with applicable regulations and policies regarding murine research(e.g., ILAR Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Murine, USDA Murine Welfare Act and Regulations) preferred.

• Experience working with ARC or comparable software systems and databases for maintenance/review of documentation/records preferred.

• Proven performance in earlier role/ comparable role

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

• Laboratory Murine Technician (LAT) - American Association for Laboratory Muriine Science with 18 months.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Senior Research Services Technologist.
