The University of Virginia, Facilities Management, is seeking a Chiller Plant Zone Supervisor. As a member of the management team, the successful candidate will be working in a supervisory role on fully automated large scale central utility plants (Chilled Water Plants). This role is an important part of the team’s constant pursuit of efficiency, reliability and sustainability goals. The industry is entering a new era of technology and is ushering in large scale heat pumps, heat recovery chillers, and geothermal systems that will provide significant opportunities to learn and grow while having a front row seat to the evolution of the industry. The successful candidate will report to the Chilled Water Plants team manager and must be able to supervise day to day activities of a high performing maintenance and operations team responsible for technically complex equipment. This position requires an individual with varied skills including being able to understand and support the maintenance and operations activities, demonstrate strong leadership skills to mentor and coaching others, manage ambiguity, and adapt to change. As part of the larger Facilities Management team, this position will work across the department when needed to solicit and consider varying perspectives, bringing people together on issues to work towards our common goals.
Responsibilities:
Direct skilled and unskilled staff in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Supervise and train employees that may specialize in several different trades.
Delegate assignments to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
Recommend or initiate personnel actions, and administer organization's policies for the department.
Provide information for record keeping, and management of supply and equipment resources.
Plan and schedule building and maintenance work, making modifications as necessary.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers.
Solve technical problems and keeps current of new products and techniques.
Foster a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Four years journey level experience in licensed trade discipline and two years supervisory and leadership experience.
Licensure: Journey or Master level license in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC.
Compensation:
The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $36.00 – $40.00 per hour ($74,880 - $83,200 Annually). Actual starting salary will be dependent on applicant's education, skills, and experience. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:

Physical Demands:
Employee will be required to crawl, kneel, squat, bend, and twist in order to perform their work. Employee must travel around job sites. Employee will work with materials of different weights and perform repetitive motions.
