JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Professors Stephen Benkovic and Vivek Kapur seek applicants for a part-time Research Associate for an innovative collaborative research program between the Benkovic Lab and the Kapur Lab. The position offers a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge drug discovery research while maintaining work-life flexibility through a 20-hour per week schedule. Our interdisciplinary team is developing novel boron-containing small molecule compounds targeting various neurological, respiratory and gastrointestinal disorders as well as infectious diseases. The position offers access to state-of-the-art facilities, opportunities for scientific publications and conference presentations and the opportunity to contribute to high-impact research while maintaining professional engagement in an academic setting.
Job duties to include:
- Design and execute independent laboratory research
- Develop biochemical and cellular screening assays
- Conduct structure-activity relationship analysis
- Perform cell culture experiments
- Mentor graduate students
- Contribute to manuscript preparation
Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology or related field
- At least 2 years of postdoctoral research experience demonstrating independence
- Strong background in organic chemistry/biochemistry
- Extensive cell culture and assay development experience
- Record of peer-reviewed publications
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with boron chemistry, SAR analysis, computational chemistry and drug discovery research
Work Hours
- 20 hours per week part-time
Compensation:
The starting rate for this job is $23.00 per hour.
