Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

Under the direction of the Senior Public Health Services Manager (Clinical Division Director), the Assistant Community Health Nursing Director (ACHND) plans, organizes and directs clinical nursing operations in collaboration with Community Health Nursing Director and Medical Director. In addition, the ACHND provides direction, consultation, education and guidance for medical providers and personnel regarding health program implementation, case management, policies and procedures and related service delivery. This position may serve clients that speak only Spanish, Creole, or other languages.  It may require performance of interpreter duties, if bilingual, or implementation of the Department’s Limited English Proficiency Plan.

 

Provides supervision, leadership and guidance to clinic-based Nursing Supervisors and clinic-based nursing staff to include planning and directing their work, approving leave, and having the authority of hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions in collaboration with the Senior Public Health Services Manager-SES and/or Medical Director. Works in conjunction with the Senior Public Health Services Manager-SES in evaluating the performance of clinical staff. Actively recruits and hires qualified personnel for the clinical nursing and medical positions in collaboration with Senior Public Health Services Manager-SES.  Maintains and works with SCHNS and Medical Providers to ensure clinic scheduling and staffing meets the needs within each of the clinics. ACHND sustains after hours and weekend clinic operations through the development, participation, oversight and management of the On-Call schedule.

 

Participate in Clinical Division program planning and policy development.  Performs as the lead/liaison with Family Planning program office and STI program office. Communicates with and keeps Community Health Nursing Director and Senior Public Health Services Manager-SES informed of significant problems and concerns. Promotes team building among clinic-based nursing staff.  Ensures that staff is aware of Community Health Services policies and procedures. Promotes team building among staff.  Serves as resource for clinical issues and problem solving. Actively involved with electronic health record implementation and ongoing updates, troubleshooting and training. Manage and carry out special assigned projects by Community Health Nursing Director, Medical Director and/or Public Health Officer/Administrator

 

Works closely with Quality Improvement program, Senior Public Health Services Manager
