The Role at a Glance
As the Director, IT Network Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the Lincoln Financial network operations infrastructure. Your primary focus will be to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our network to support our business operations efficiently. You will lead a team of network technicians, coordinate/partner/direct managed service provider (MSP) resources, collaborate with other departments, oversee contracts and budget, and make decisions to optimize our network performance and reliability.
What you'll be doing
Functional Qualifications:
- Lead the Network Operations team that provides oversight and build/maintenance activities for solutions in this space.
- Experience with design and implementation of IT projects and major efforts, to include documentation, communication, and coordination of all components.
- Developing information system design, governance, process, procedure documentation.
- Expertise in coordination and escalation to vendor support and ability to coordinate with first- and third-party software vendors as needed for resolution of business-impacting problems.
- Partner with functional business and application development teams to fully understand and contextualize problems and opportunities to design and develop technologies that support a broad range of reporting and critical needs.
- Manages and maintains standards through a technology catalog ensuring currency and applicability through exception and review processes.
- Recommend improvements to existing assets and processes.
- Maintain and influence relationships with senior leaders, peers and team members.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in resolving complex problems.
- Providing guidance that follows the enterprise operations vision and adheres to guidelines.
- Fully define user stories that refine the complex business problem into a way that technical teams can both understand and leverage, enabling efficient hand-offs and hedging bottlenecks or development risks.
- Work closely with engineering teams to solve customer problems and implement new solutions.
- Act as a subject matter expert in broader initiatives and help foster knowledge transfers and system/platform requirements to bridge disparate business requirements.
Network Infrastructure Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, Firewalls and VPN.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of network systems across multiple locations in the US.
- Monitor network traffic, analyze data, and troubleshoot network-related issues proactively.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of network technicians, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the network operations team.
Operations Planning:
- Develop and execute plans for network expansion, upgrades, and enhancements to meet current and future business needs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation and improve network efficiency.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices to safeguard against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to network operations, such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and GDPR.
Vendor Management:
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts, evaluate solutions, and procure network hardware, software, and services.
- Manage vendor relationships, performance, and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure quality of service.
Incident Management:
- Develop and maintain incident response procedures to address network outages, security breaches, and other emergencies.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents promptly and minimize impact on business operations.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or 7+ years hands on experience in related field.
