General Summary:

The Manager, Software Engineering is accountable for managing and coordinating resources and processes to deliver software releases of Development products, while participating in defining the strategy for the Development team by driving initiatives that deliver on the ConnectWise Business Suite vision.  This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of developers, as well as a filter for communication from other departments such as Product Management and QA. The Manager, Software Engineering will ensure that architecture and design requirements are properly being executed in a timely manner while keeping coding standards in place. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages a team of software engineers that architect and design enterprise software products and operating systems 
  • Writes product requirement documents, implements and tracks development timelines, and negotiates feature sets with the development leads and product teams 
  • Leads and directs the work of others 
  • Mentors other developers to improve their development talents 
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals 
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected 
  • Performs a variety of tasks

  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to develop professionally 
  • Strong computer skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Has a deep understanding of the Business Unit product and the code base 
  • Has a deep understanding of coding fundamentals, architecture and design in multiple languages (VB.net, C#, C, C++) 
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously with sufficient efficiency and quality 
  • Problem-solving abilities and ability to meet reasonable deadlines 
  • Strong team player, ability to build positive and collaborative relationships within the organization 
  • Expertise with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures 
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously with sufficient efficiency and quality 
  • Ability to lead and manage the progress of a project and meet deadlines 
  • Ability to understand complex algorithms 
  • Ability to manage multiple, dissimilar deliverables and train others on deliverables 
  • Understand how a Managed Service Provider (MSP) operates from a business standpoint 
  • Great work ethic with a positive attitude 

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area is preferred 
  • At least 7 years of experience in software development

Working Conditions:

  • Professional office environment 
  • Some travel may be required
