Position Summary
- The Surgical Services and Cardiovascular Service Line Business Manager will play a critical role in the operational management and financial performance of the Surgical and Cardiovascular service lines. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day business operations, including budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic planning under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services and Director of Cardiovascular and Trauma Services. The Business Manager will collaborate with clinical leaders, physicians, and administrative staff to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality patient care.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare management, with at least 2 years in surgical or cardiovascular service lines. Experience in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning is essential.

Role Specific Responsibilities
Financial Management
Develop and monitor budgets for the Surgical and Cardiovascular service lines.
Conduct financial analysis, including variance analysis, forecasting, and trend analysis.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high standards of care.
Prepare and present financial reports to leadership, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
Operational Management
Create, maintain, and distribute data and metrics to service line directors that support the financial and clinical goals for the service lines.
Collaborate with clinical leaders and service line directors to optimize resource utilization, equipment, and supplies.
Collaborate with service line leadership to identify and create strategies around reduction in cost and improvement in productivity.
Strategic Planning
Assist in the development and execution of strategic plans for the Surgical and Cardiovascular service lines.
Participate in service line development, including the introduction of new services and programs.
Support the expansion of services and integration of new technologies.
Prepare ROI and business plans under the direction of service line directors.
Prepare and perform capital and service agreement requests for service line as delegated by service line directors.
Staff Leadership and Development
Provide leadership and mentorship to administrative and support staff within the service lines.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
Collaboration and Communication
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing updates on financial performance, operational changes, and strategic initiatives.
Serves as liaison between service line directors and finance, accounting, and materials management leadership.
Quality and Performance Improvement
Engage in continuous improvement activities that improve clinical and operational efficiencies.
Assist department managers in analysis and collection of data to inform clinical operations decision-making.
