Senior Accountant

Job Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining complete, accurate, and up-to-date reporting, working with external auditors, month end close tasks, sales tax compliance, and accounts payable transactions.

What You'll Focus On

• Monitor and reconcile various balance sheet accounts, ledger, revenue, and expense reports to maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date reporting based on GAAP-compliant standards. Monitor and analyze the resolution of reconciliation variances identified and take corrective actions and adjustments as needed for resolution.

• Perform compliance related tasks. Perform and review compliance with state sales tax filing requirements and ensure requirements are met for different states of operations. Responsible for timely review of ongoing compliance policy and regulations. Prepare various reports and documentation and assemble information for internal and external auditors or supervisor review. Adhere to all company, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and regulations.

• Utilize company’s accounting system for reporting, tracking, and monitoring transactions. Review accounts payable transactions including invoices & receipts and facilitates payment processing. Monitor the return of funds and recommend account adjustments as needed.

• Assume month-end & year-end close responsibilities including reviewing bank reconciliations.

• Work with the accounting team to analyze financial statements for discrepancies.

• Coordinate with supervisor or other designee on various initiatives including improving and streamlining functions, processes, and reports.

What You Bring

• 3-4 years of relevant experience required. 4-6 years of experience preferred.
• CPA license preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field highly preferred.
• Experience in the restaurant industry or startup environment preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Netsuite) required.
• Strong time management skills required.
• Ability to work successfully in a team and independently required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy required.
• Ability to learn and tackle new problems and projects highly preferred.
