IT Engineering Lead

Role: IT Engineering Lead

As the first IT hire for Above Lending, you will have the critical role of establishing our IT function and how it operates. You will work closely with engineering, people operations, and security to ensure that Above Lending is using the most effective technology to run our business. You will be responsible for ensuring that the hardware and software used by our company is easy to use, secure, and scalable. You will also be responsible for providing support for our team members, maintaining third-party applications, and troubleshooting in unfamiliar territory. As this function grows you will lead, hire and manage IT staff. 

You Will: 

• Assess any current IT infrastructure that is in place and keep what’s working and scratch what’s not.
• Collaborate with the People & TA function to build a new hire onboarding process.
• Automate IT policies that are currently being performed manually and design and document policies that facilitate an all remote workforce.
• Own the help desk triage process ensuring high levels of customer service, automation of routine tasks, and continuous improvements.
• Provide Tier 3 support to the IT Operations team including hardware, software, network, and peripherals.
• Monitor system performance and identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
• Ensure the stability and security of the company's IT systems and applications
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to improve system reliability and performance.
• Support Windows and Mac devices.
• Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices to improve system reliability and security.
• Work with teams to design and implement IT solutions that meet business needs.

You Have:

• 5+ years of IT experience
• Experience in a startup environment 
• Experience building an IT function from the ground up
• Strong technical knowledge of Identity Providers, SAML, SSO, MFA, and LDAP.
• Experience with JumpCloud, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, New Relic, and ThousandEyes a plus.
• Technical knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, VOIP, and VPN.
• Strong understanding of IT security best practices and experience implementing security solutions.
• Experience with Google Workplace, Slack, AWS, and Atlassian tools.
• Automation and scripting experience for Windows and Mac.
• Exposure to security and patching tools
• Strong written and spoken communication skills
• High quality customer service experience
• A degree in Computer Science, IT, related engineering discipline or equivalent years of experience
