JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics seeks to hire a part-time outreach assistant to assist with the RISE program.  

The selected candidate will have several key responsibilities: 

1.      Recruit students to participate in RISE at the local middle school, including interacting with science teachers for recommendations. 

2.      Run weekly RISE announcements at the school. 

3.      Attend weekly RISE meetings. 

4.      Help guide students during RISE meetings and teach students RISE material. 

It is highly desirable for this person to have experience teaching at the middle school level. 

The selected candidate will report to Dr. Randall McEntaffer. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. 

This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:

  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check

  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form 

  • FBI Criminal Background Check
