Description
Are you looking for a truly engaging & valuable summer internship where you can make a difference? Our Communications Team and Digital Equity program team are looking for a shared intern who will help us bridge the digital divide for those in need of devices, internet and basic skills through basic tech education classes as well as capture video/audio of participants to tell the stories of those individuals.
What you'll be doing
The responsibilities of this role can be tweaked depending on the talents of the right candidate and the needs of our team. Having said that, it's likely that you'll be doing some of the things below, together with our Digital Equity and Communications Teams:
- Assist with program instruction
- Will assist clients in learning Google workspace apps
- Provide 1:1 instruction and/or support for participants who have difficulty with step-by-step instructions at Instructor’s direction
- Support the Instructor with overall classroom management
- Provide 1:1 tutoring as assigned by Instructor outside of group class times
- Assist with program equipment and materials
- Help with in-class set-up and distribution of equipment or materials for class participants
- Ensure that all Chromebooks and other equipment are working properly before and during distribution
- Assess and troubleshoot if problems arise with equipment
- Prep program materials for Digital Equity Classes or STEM Programs
- Program support
- Assist the Programs Team in any facet of program development and implementation as needed
- Attend all in-person and virtual programs as assigned
- Be available to substitute for other team members if needed
- Be willing to assist participants who need extra assistance
- Assist with outreach at Digital Pathways Events
- Storytelling work
- Assist the Communications Team with a strategy for capturing quick interviews of clients to capture the impact of our digital equity work
- Consider ethical implications and best practices for robust and appropriate storytelling
- Film clients telling their digital equity stories
- Assist with creating short form content for social media with those interviews
What you bring
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is warm, friendly and values teamwork. We would hope that you are looking to expand your personal and professional goals. Also significant is that you have a desire to serve others and learn how STEM education and Digital Equity are creating a ladder of opportunity for all. Lastly, we would need you to be able to complete tasks independently and in a timely manner with some guidance.

- Have a working knowledge of digital equity issues
REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES
The internship should be a minimum of 6 weeks, preferably between May 15, 2024 and August 15, 2024

SALARY
This is an unpaid internship. We offer recommendation letters and can also assist with any paperwork needed for sponsored internships that are paid by other sources, internships for school credit or volunteer hour acknowledgements.
