Senior Accountant (75155)

About the Role: 

Asphalt Green is looking to hire a full-time experienced Senior Accountant to work within the Finance Department at our Upper East Side (555 east 90th street ) location.  Reporting to the Controller, this position will oversee accounting operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and comply with all relevant regulations and standards. Responsibilities 

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS, depending on the region) and regulatory requirements. 

• Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded, reconciled, and reported. Review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. 

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and other financial statements to ensure the accuracy of financial records. Investigate and resolve discrepancies. 

• Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections. Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis to management. 

• Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Ensure that accounting procedures adhere to legal requirements and company policies. 

• Support the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings. Work with tax advisors to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. 

• Supervise and mentor other accounting staff 

• Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and systems. Recommend and implement changes to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.  

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required or related experience.  

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years accounts payable experience. Preferably in a non-profit.  

• Knowledge of Great Plains and Salesforce software systems.  

• Advance knowledge of Excel.
