Your Opportunity
As the Senior Manager, Community Events, you'll have a big opportunity in front of you. You will drive in-person and online event programs for the Sysdig open source team. You will be at the forefront of establishing Sysdig’s open source community across our portfolio of owned and supported open source projects. This includes strategy, planning, execution and measurement for how our open source team engages community at conferences, meetups, workshops, webinars, livestreams and beyond. Approximately 50% travel, primarily in North America and EMEA. The safety protocols of various event organizers must be met to be effective in this role.
Your Responsibilities
Architect the strategy and orchestrate the execution of Sysdig’s open source presence across a variety of event types. This includes consideration of awareness goals, amplification of conference speakers, social media, as well as ancillary community engagement programs like workshops, tutorials, meetups, etc. There is an ongoing need to prepare the OSS organization to fully support events, manage vendors and track performance/ROI. Specific responsibilities:
Conferences
- Establish the way we present OSS within the context of Sysdig sponsored events, including tabletops, booth space, ancillary programs. Work closely with the corporate events team to set the goals and deliver an integrated attendee experience with Sysdig.
- Manage call for papers with Sysdig technical teams, including vetting of conference opportunities, recommendations on conferences for submissions as individual talks and across each particular conference. Requires steady encouragement of individuals to submit, internal coordination and communication, and tracking / promotion of accepted talks.
- Proactively identify, research, recommend and contract key events and sponsorships to represent Sysdig’s OSS portfolio.
- Ensure OSS events are documented on appropriate web sites, create registration landing pages, social media posts, load lists, and conduct pre/post follow up.
Regional Activation
- Create full-cycle event programs in a box (meetups, community days, workshops, etc.) for scalable and streamlined execution with field teams.
- Alignment with OSS DevRel team as well as with field marketing is key to your success.
- Provide guidance on key meetup organizations / locations for participation.
- Local support may be required for some events, including venue selection and registration tactics.
Online Programs
- Establish a cadence and ongoing calendar of open source online events (hosted + 3rd party).
- Seek out fresh and compelling ideas for topics that attract net new community engagement.
- Host pre-event sessions to prepare and manage logistics: speakers, presentation content, polling questions, chat/Q&A.
- Create registration landing pages, pre/post email, social media posts.
- Identify opportunities to reuse content (i.e., speaking opps, demos) across platforms with new audiences.
Your Background
- 8+ years event marketing experience in a high growth B2B technology environment.
- A track record of success in planning and hosting events and conference sponsorships both in-person and online, with an aptitude in balancing multiple events simultaneously.
- Cross-functional team player with open source community ethos, dedicated to continuous improvement.
- Intellectual curiosity to learn about the cloud/container security space and the message/content being presented, a keen focus on community engagement.
