General Summary of Duties: 

This position is responsible for overseeing the entering and processing of surgery charges, clinic charges, procedural and diagnosis coding.   

Essential Functions:

Core duties include the following, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for reviewing all electronic medical records to identify all services and procedures performed by the physician/clinic staff; E & M coding with procedures
• Responsible for coding minor procedures
• Accurate application of CPT and ICD-10 codes
• Assigning proper coding, identifying and working with the physician to correct improper documentation
• Analyzing denials and assisting the Accounts Receivable team in resolving problems with claims due to coding issues; Works with the Accounts Receivable team to work A/R follow ups and claim appeals
• Apply appropriate coding rules, billing guidelines and departmental procedures
• Research correct coding as needed
• Auditing and correcting scrubbed claims
• Assist in the coordination of efforts relating to physician coding education in documentation requirements.
• Maintain coding certification.
• Code and charge entry of hospital charges
• Other duties as assigned.
