Position Summary:
Working independently and interdependently with other HealthPoint providers, the Licensed Midwife (LM) provides full scope midwifery care in ambulatory and community settings to low-risk patients, with consultation and co-management of moderate to high-risk patients. Provides pregnancy, prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care, lactation support, newborn health services, family planning and gynecological care. Precepts student midwives and other learners, offering mentorship and education with hands-on clinical experience and training. Provides clinical care for parents and babies in home and clinic settings. While the LM role currently does not include attending births, the position is structured to allow for future expansion into intrapartum care as the program evolves.
Compensation is dependent on skills and experience.
Your contribution to the team includes:
- Assess patient needs for specialty referrals, diagnostic, and ambulatory care consistent with evidence-based, trauma informed, culturally appropriate care consistent with midwifery standards.
- Provide patients and family member with counseling and education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and the need for follow-up as appropriate during each patient visit. Verify and document that the patient understands the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up recommendations.
- Responsible for accurate, timely, and completed documentation in patient records and superbills.
- Work in collaboration with midwife colleagues, FPOBs and other HP providers to ensure clinical practice is closely aligned.
- Provide individual and group clinical care to include prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn care up to 2 weeks, gynecological, family planning and lactation care with appropriate training.
- Conduct prenatal, postpartum and newborn home visit appointments according to clinical protocols and patient needs, and coordinate follow-up postpartum and newborn care.
- Administer medications and perform minor outpatient procedures in accordance with HealthPoint credentialing policy.
- Provide consultation to other clinic providers and collaborate with outside specialists for consultation, referrals and comanaging care.
- Clinical preceptor to supervise, teach, and mentor midwifery students, medical students, residents, doulas, and other learners.
- Contribute to curriculum development, simulation-based learning, and clinical skills training.
- Facilitate learner evaluation and feedback, modeling professional and evidence-based midwifery practice.
- Assist with meeting clinic patient care team productivity and quality care standards while centering patients and community.
- Participate in the development and utilization of HealthPoint practice guidelines and procedures and participate in audits and meet standards of HealthPoint Quality Improvement, Risk Management, and Utilization Management programs.
