Senior Director, Product Management – Integrated On-board Cab Electronics Architecture

Who will you be working with?
This role will lead and execute the locomotive on-board cab electronics architecture strategy by defining the integration and optimization roadmap for electronics hardware and software. The objective is to simplify the architecture, improve the customer experience, and to drive profitable growth, reporting to the Vice President of Product Management & Technology (for the Vital Organs Platform).
The role will work cross-functionally with the Digital Intelligence, Equipment, and Service businesses, locomotive platform leaders, vital organ product managers, as well as across functions including engineering, sales, supply chain, quality, etc. to deliver compelling product solutions and innovative technologies that improve reliability, sustainability, performance, total life-cycle cost and automation vitality.
How will you make a difference?
This role is responsible for overall architecture and roadmap for electronic products and solutions in the locomotive cab across the Wabtec portfolio, resulting in a One Wabtec strategy that optimizes the electronic architecture. This includes an investment and growth strategy for locomotive electronics product solutions, developing new business models and service frameworks, as well as supporting an inorganic growth strategy. This individual will be skilled in cross-functional leadership and be responsible for providing guidance to the organization and customers regarding the locomotive electronics product portfolio and multi-year investments.
This role spans many activities from strategic to tactical and provides cross-functional leadership with the ability to influence key stakeholders. Additionally, this person will be a champion for Product Management and will support the broader organization in integrating and proliferating a strong product management culture across the organizations.
This role will play an integral part in the future of the T4 product for the Freight Equipment team as well as the future of modernizations for the Freight Services team. It will also be a key bridge between the Locomotive and the Digital Intelligence teams to improve the integration of Digital products into the locomotive.
What do we want to know about you?
You must have:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in the areas of Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of experience Product Management/General Management, Commercial, or Engineering
- 5 years industry experience in railroad, Controls or electronics industry with the ability to grasp, explain, and use engineering concepts as applied to railroad operations
- Experience in dealing effectively with customers at senior and technical levels
- Demonstrated commercial intensity and a relentless drive to win and grow the product line and revenue
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation / communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to influence across organizations
- Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills
- Must be willing to travel 25%+ of the time

- Experience leading multi-year technology investment programs
- Experience leading customer/industry engagements
- Familiarity with the industrial technology and railroad industry
- Prior Executive level Commercial/ Product Management experience
What will your typical day look like?
- Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap for locomotive electronics portfolio including new products and solutions that deliver highly profitable orders and revenue growth
- Support market assessments to define and target opportunities for new products, features, and solutions related to train control operations
- Responsible for orders, growth, price, market share expansion, and customer ROI
- Gather market/customer requirements and advocate for customer needs
- Document the technical and operational requirements and collaborate with engineering to develop design concepts and cost / schedule estimates
