Mobile Food Pantry Associate

This job involves unloading food deliveries for a mobile pantry, operating pallet jacks, stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean environment while adhering to food safety guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Unloads the food from truck with deliveries for the mobile pantry.  Operates a pallet jack either of the electric or manual kind in compliance with machinery requirements. 

  • Responsible for stocking shelves, cold storage units and maintaining a clean work environment that follows food safety and programmatic requirements.   

  • Performs daily basic computer tasks such as data entry, email communication, using spreadsheet software, generating reports and maintain accurate records.  Ability to efficiently organize and manage inventory and coordinate distribution efforts.      

  • Responsible for warm and hospitable client engagement. Serves clients in a respectful manner and respects their dietary needs.

  • Complies with food safety and sanitation guidelines. 

  • Responsibly and safely drives agency vehicles and follows all traffic and safety laws and regulations as well as agency policies and procedures. 

  • Reports vehicle maintenance, need repairs, incidents, accidents to Program Director.  Adheres to scheduled service routes.

  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of the program and agency updates by attending meetings and reviewing email correspondence. 

  • Assist co-workers in any of their responsibilities if requested. Conducts intake with client requesting food service. 

  • Compassionate and understanding attitude towards individuals facing food insecurity.

X Kneel and move from sitting, bending, kneeling or standing multiple times a day.
X Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds.
X Climb up and down up to 3 flights of stairs at a time.
X Lift up to 50 pounds.
X Additional Requirements: Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time

Directly Supervises: N/A
Indirectly Supervises: SFNP Staff

Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant Education:
Preferred: Associate's Degree
Minimum: High School

Relevant Experience:
Preferred: 5 Years large vehicle operations. Experience in operating a forklift.
Minimum: 2 Years large vehicle operations.

Proficiency in basic computer tasks such as data entry, email communication, using spreadsheet software, generating reports and maintaining accurate records. Ability to efficiently organize and manage inventory, track donations, and coordinate distribution efforts.
Efficiently manage time to deliver food promptly. Familiarity with efficient use of navigation apps or GPS systems.

Capability to work collaboratively with volunteers, staff members, and other stakeholders.
Understanding and respect for diverse cultures and backgrounds.
