We are seeking a Senior Waste Management Specialist Energy to join our team in Idaho Falls, ID.

How will you contribute to the team?

• Documents the detailed technical and functional requirements (T&FRs) for the Waste Management Program (WMP) Service Center (SC).

• Develops detailed inter-facility and intra-facility flow sheets for processes and sub-processes generating radioactive, hazardous, and mixed waste at the Idaho National Laboratory.

• Incorporates the T&FRs and flow sheets into a relational database or set of spreadsheets that models the existing service center EAC analysis.

• Conducts sensitivity analysis of the model and various outputs, including the WMP SC EAC monthly report.

• Tests, validates, and provides comments for preconceptual, conceptual, and final products for the SC dashboard.

• Develops and maintaining a dashboard of industry-wide advanced nuclear reactor development activities. The dashboard shall include reactor function, neutron spectrum, moderator, heat transfer mechanism, outlet temperature, fuel enrichment, fuel final form, refueling period/method, power output classification,  power output base model output (Mwe), plant scalability output (Mwe), regulatory progress, government support, NRC status, CNSC status, expected deployment date, INL NRIC/other national laboratory contact, data sources, and INL WMP analysis products, review comments, and status. The Nuclear Innovation Alliance Advanced Nuclear Reactor Technology Primer, July 2023, will be the initial data load for the dashboard. The dashboard will be updated monthly using a wide variety of publicly available information from INL, reactor developers, and industry sources.

• Analyzes preconceptual, conceptual, and final designs of INL-sponsored reactor projects.

• Provides technical comments to INL-sponsored reactor developers regarding end-state waste management needs.

• Analysis and technical comments shall include impacts of reactor waste component activation levels, treatment requirements, packaging requirements and strategies, transportation requirements, and disposal facility waste acceptance criteria.

• Develops and revises generic and reactor specific waste management plans for INL-sponsored reactor development projects.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
