The Information Technology (IT) organization designs, develops, operates, and maintains the technology and telecommunications systems that enable PG&E to meet its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and affordable service to customers.
The Computer Information Systems (CIS) Application Operations team specifically is responsible for maintaining the continuous operation of the Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) application and its interfaces. In addition, the team facilitates all associated maintenance activities including deployment of new functionality, maintenance of the environment, and incident resolution. This is a 24/7 operations support team, and all team members participate in on-call duties.
Position Summary
PG&E is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to provide expert level support for the mission critical CC&B application. The candidate must be able to engage with business stakeholders, managed services operations team and IT leadership to provide the best in line operational experience for our end users.
Duties will include investigation of production issues including analysis of interfacing systems and Automic (UC4) batch processing. The position will require participation in troubleshooting performance and application issues in a collaborative environment with external teams and communicating status to peer level organizations.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $129,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $207,000.00
&/OR
California Minimum: $123,000.00
California Maximum: $197,000.00
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. Attendance in the Oakland General Office(OGO) up to 3-4 times per year.
The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as key technical resource with areas of specialization.
- Apply problem solving skills and product knowledge to resolve application problems of complex scope individually or through cross-functional team participation.
- Provide expert guidance and training to team members on CC&B system functionality, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Administer application performance reports and system audits of the CC&B infrastructure to identify and address any issues proactively, ensuring high availability and reliability of the system.
- Represent team as a consultant on complex large projects, assisting with determining critical path, quality of resources required, potential risks, and dependencies.
- Provide broad cross-functional and technological expertise in situations that have major associated risks with high visibility and can be sensitive or widely varied requiring expert judgment in applying and adapting techniques.
- Troubleshoot potential system issues to determine if there is a defect.
- Analyze production defects, identify business and system impacts and quantify problems.
- Support stabilization of deployed code.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert support to developers and testers.
- Assist business and technical teams with ad hoc requests.
- Provide functional expertise to clients for resolving business issues.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- 7 years’ experience in computer programming and analysis.
- 5 years’ experience in operations support including 24x7 on call responsibilities and front-line support for a large distributed application.
- Working knowledge of Oracle database and SQL Developer.
