About the role

The Film Production Project Lead supports student film projects, class productions, live performance recordings, and other campus initiatives by contributing in areas such as cinematography, sound recording, producing, editing, and student mentorship. This position is essential to the success of academic outcomes that offer fully produced film projects and other film-related coursework and campus initiatives. Staff in this role also assist in filming and uploading acting classes, ensuring high-quality results and a supportive learning environment.  Primary Responsibilities: Project Lead 
  • Key organizer and communicator between faculty, students, staff, ADD, and Division Chair for Pre-production, Production, and Post-Production which include the following: 
Pre-Production Support 
  • Collaborate with student and faculty directors on shot lists, scheduling, and location scouting  
  • Provide script resources and guidance on story breakdowns where necessary 
  • Train and prepare student crews in advance of principal photography 
  • Create filming schedules and manage prop and set decoration budgets for project 
  • Collaborates with director about production aspects about chosen material 
  • Works with ADD and Division Chair to approve Director chosen scripts and production elements (Project Dependent) 
  • Manages location and shooting schedule (Project Dependent) 
  • Reviews Director shot lists and offers guidance where necessary   
  • Coordinate across departments during production to ensure seamless execution 
Production Support 
  • Serve in production roles including: 
  • Cinematographer 
  • Location Sound Mixer 
  • Line Producer 
  • Lighting and other camera support  
  • Equipment Transportation  
  • Supervise student crews on set 
  • Advise directors on camera angles, lens choices, and camera movement 
  • Manage daily media transfers and backups  
  • Write a nightly report to directors, Senior Manager of Film Production, ADD, and Division Chair 
Post-Production Support 
  • Log and sync footage and audio 
  • Assembly, Rough Cut, Multiple Drafts, Final Cut (Project Dependent) 
  • Coordinate with Directors, ADD and Division Chair to review and approve cuts 
  • Color correction and audio mixing 
  • Titles and credits 
  • Final quality control prior to screenings or presentations 
  • Help guide students through editing workflows in Premiere Pro or similar NLEs (project dependent) 
  • Help train student crews and directors on post-production tasks (project dependent) 
 Responsibilities outside of Production Project Support 
  • Film camera courses, student scenes, and campus performances as assigned 
  • Perform editing on institutional projects and performance footage as needed 
  • Mentor and support Student Worker Camera Assistants 
  • Room and equipment operation and support in classroom, performance spaces, and occasional off-site locations, including lighting, projection, sound and any other necessary AV set up and/or filming needs 
  • Serve as support for courses, students, and instructors, while working in a collaborative office environment 
  • Foster a collaborative, professional environment where students are supported and challenged 
  • Other duties as assigned 
  Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience in film/video production and post-production 
  • Proficient in camera operation, sound mixing, and editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.) 
  • Ability to mentor and supervise students on set and in post 
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills
