Job Summary:
This role offers an exceptional opportunity to conduct high-impact research focused on uncovering the underlying causes of diabetes, with the goal of advancing treatment and prevention strategies. You will collaborate closely with leading scientists at the Barbara Davis Diabetes Center and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, contributing to groundbreaking discoveries in diabetes research. The projects will explore pancreatic beta cell biology to uncover how beta cells contribute to autoimmune processes in type 1 diabetes and to functional impairment in type 2 diabetes. In particular, one line of investigation will examine how mRNA translation regulation shapes the production of neoantigens that drive autoimmune activation in type 1 diabetes. In this role, you will design, develop, and perform experiments using cellular systems, islets, animal models, and human samples to explore key molecular mechanisms—including mRNA translation, protein expression, beta-cell function, and immune cell infiltration.
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain islet and cell cultures
· Maintain necessary animal cohorts
· Design and perform experiments, primarily in molecular biology
· Organize data and present to the group
· Contribute to manuscript preparation for publication in peer-reviewed journals
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.
