Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The Mechanical Engineering group is hiring for a Sr. Principal Engineering Design in our Mechanical Engineering team within the Launch Vehicles Business Unit at our Chandler, AZ facility.
Essential Functions:
- Work within the Northrop Grumman Design group and will be responsible for creating drawing/design packages with proper content and to ensuring compliance with applicable industry and military standards
- Review designs for fit, function, manufacturability, economy of fabrication, and verifying completed work, checking dimensions, materials and quantities to be used
- Review of tolerance analysis, hardware selection and fitment on assembly prints
- Called upon to resolve interpretation issues on drawings
- Verifying 3D models submitted to manufacturing utilizing Siemens NX 1946 managed with Teamcenter
- Responsibility will further include liaison with various engineering disciplines, Manufacturing, and Quality
- Some vendor liaison will be required as well
- As requested, may supervise and direct the activities of staff.
- Modeling fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Siemens NX 1946 managed with Teamcenter, and create/revise parametric drawings in conformance with ASME modeling and drawing standards
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Windows and NX 1946 as required.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately while under schedule pressure and exhibit a large degree of patience.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD with 4 years of related engineering experience. Experience may be substituted in lieu of education (4 yrs for Bachelor’s Degree)
- Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance
- Must be experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Must be experienced with weld design per AWS D17.1 and D1.1
- Must have knowledge of standard manufacturing processes including CNC Mill and Lathe operations
- Must be experienced with Siemens NX 1946 and Teamcenter
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in STEM
- Active DOD Secret Security clearance, or higher
- ASME Y14.5-2009
- ASM GDTP Certification
- Manual and automated machining experience
- AWS CWI certification
- Experience working with DoD programs
- Working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and Mil-Standard 100
