Job Duties

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across three nursing units.

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for a full-time Housekeeper/Porter on the 7A-330P Shift and will include every other weekend.

Job Duties Include:

-Ensuring the facility is kept clean by dusting, mopping, sweeping, damp/wet mopping, polishing, scrubbing, vacuuming, trash removal and for the removal of bio-hazard waste.
-Keeping their assigned areas clean and attractive
-Promoting sanitary conditions to prevent the spread of infection
-Ensuring all equipment is in working order
-Completing their daily routine however, each staff member is cross-trained in all other areas of Environmental Services and can be asked to perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

1 Year Prior Housekeeping experience required.

Additional Considerations

Experience working in a long-term care facility or hospital preferred.
Experience stripping and waxing floors, extracting and bonnet cleaning of carpets.
