Security Analyst

Position Title: Security Analyst.
Department: St. Olaf College LITS and Carleton College ITS.
Classification: Exempt.                             
FTE: 1.0.
Work Schedule: The standard 40-hour work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, split evenly between the campuses, though the amount of time spent at each institution in a given period may vary.  Flexible work arrangements can be proposed and are subject to approval by HR and relevant supervisors; occasional evening or weekend work as needed.  Travel up to 5% of the work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area), regional, and national.
Work Location: On Campus.
Salary Range: $62,000-$68,000.

Essential Job Duties:

• Security Alert and Event Management.
  • Administer and maintain log aggregation and event correlation platforms (Splunk and supporting systems).
  • Build relevant alerts and dashboards in Splunk.
  • Respond to security events generated by mail service, endpoint detection and response, event correlation platform, and other systems.
• Vulnerability Management.
  • Administer and maintain vulnerability management platform.
  • Create scan schedules.
  • Review and prioritize scan results, report to system owners, and track remediation activities.
• Desktop Security.
  • Administer desktop security platforms, including Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Managed Detection and Response (MDR), and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) infrastructure. Create and edit EDR, MDR, and DLP policies.
  • Stay current with Windows and macOS security issues.
• Cybersecurity Education and Training.
  • Administer cybersecurity training and phishing simulation platforms.
• Maintain expertise through ongoing professional development, certification, and training.
• Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
• Maintain a high degree of ethical and professional standards.
• Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

• Reports to the Information Security Officer.
• This position does not supervise staff or student workers.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or an associate’s degree with 2 years of related experience. Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record.
• Experience: A good candidate should be able to relate academic or work experience to the job duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, and Certification such as Security+ or other similar information security-related certification. Good written and oral communication skills.
• Experience: 2+ years of progressive experience in systems or networking administration. 2+ years of experience in information security, including security operations, desktop security, vulnerability management, and/or cybersecurity user education.
