Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Engineering Intern as part of our Electric Machine Product Team at our Indiana Technical Center (ITC) in Noblesville, Indiana.

The Product Team Engineering intern is responsible for supporting the Electric Motor Technical Product lead

and Application Engineering team.  Support will include involvement in cross functional team meetings with multiple engineering groups (Design, test, controls, manufacturing, program management, systems engineering, etc.) coordinating program deliverables.  Involvement and support of internal technical reviews of key product designs, modeling, test data, and change requests, ensuring all process steps executed.  The Product Team Engineering Intern position will be exposed to multiple engineering disciplines as part of daily activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project tracking across programs, identifying common issues.
  • Support coordination of test data analysis between the test engineering, product engineering, and advanced analysis (EM, Thermal, FEA) documenting key findings.
  • Support and coordination of 8D activities to ensure timely closure of all investigations.
  • Coordinate and support Process of Engineering activities within the product engineering team.
  • Coordinate analysis documentation of competitive products though market research and by working closely with benchmarking activities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or be a graduate from an accredited college majoring in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronics.
  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire date
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office products).
  • Ability to routinely work in a hands-on manner.
  • Basic understanding of permanent magnet motor design and control theory a plus.
  • Basic understanding of CAD software, 3D modeling, and general GD&T.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, MotorCAD, or similar a plus.
