Summary/Objective

Assist Human Resources staff with daily operations and special projects.

Essential Job Duties

  • Serves as the Department's primary Workers' Compensation coordinator, ensuring compliance with state requirements and organizational policies and procedures while providing expert guidance to employees, supervisors, and leadership.
  • Acts as the central liaison and subject matter expertise between injured employees, supervisors, Human Resources, and MDC's Workers' Compensation carrier (CARO) to facilitate effective communication and timely claim resolution.
  • Monitors and manages Workers' Compensation claims, identifies trends, resolves issues, and ensuring timely follow-up on treatment delays, documentation deficiencies, and claim status.
  • Analyzes claim data and organizational metrics through the Origami Risk platform to support strategic decision-making, loss prevention initiatives, and budget planning.
  • Provides critical Workers' Compensation data during bi-weekly payroll processing to support accurate employee compensation and benefits administration.
  • Coordinates the Department's accident and loss reporting process involving vehicles, equipment, property damage, and third-party liability while ensuring compliance with Office of Administration and Risk Management requirements.
  • Coordinates Post Accident Drug/Alcohol Screenings for employees with supervisors and their Branch Leadership.  
  • Performs financial reconciliation of Workers' Compensation expenditures by validating payments and supporting budget oversight through RAPTOR and Origami Risk reporting.
  • Prepares investigative case files, documents committee findings, and communicating disciplinary recommendations to Employee Relations during the monthly Accident Review Committee meetings.
  • Develops and presents organizational safety performance metrics for executive leadership, including monthly, quarterly, and annual accident trends used to guide strategic safety initiatives.
  • Serves as a system administrator and functional expert for the Safety Accident Reporting System (SARS), ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and user support across the Department.
  • Leads employee education and training on accident reporting requirements and proper system utilization to ensure consistent and accurate reporting.
  • Coordinates directly with Sodales, the system vendor, to resolve technical issues, manage enhancements, and oversee system maintenance through the Jira ticketing platform.
  • Provides strategic leadership for future system enhancements, improving reporting capabilities, operational efficiency, and user experience.
  • Serves as the Safety team's primary administrator to the Learning Management System (LMS), collaborating with the LMS Administrator to develop, implement, and maintain safety training programs and course offerings.
  • Develops instructional materials for New Employee Orientation, Policies and Procedures, Workers' Compensation, Driver Skills, and other critical safety programs.
  • Directs the administration of safety training programs, including course scheduling, communications, enrollment management, instructor support, training records, and program logistics within the LMS.
  • Serves as a facilitator and subject matter expert for New Employee Orientation, Post -Accident Drug/Alcohol Screening, Driver's Skills training and others to be identified in the future.
  • Archives and retains files for case management. 
  • Researches and prepares statistical data used for reporting as requested.
  • Assists Safety Supervisor with solicitation of bids for the safety-related contracts and the award program.
  • Prepares monthly safety award information for eligible staff and coordinates with vendor.
