Job Description

The Advanced Practice Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Stroke APRN provides support and coverage to the stroke service at CDH's Comprehensive Stroke Center.  Some responsibilities include daily rounding on inpatients being managed by the stroke service, responding/managing stroke alerts (including administering/facilitating thrombolytics), partnering with the multidisciplinary patient care team, education of the nursing/ancillary teams.  The Stroke APRN partners with the covering stroke neurologist to manage the patients on the stroke service.

Schedule: 12 hour Shifts (7:00am-7:00pm) three times per week over a 7 day week schedule

• Weekend rotation every 4th weekend
• No holiday coverage required

  • Providing rapid assessment and state-of-the-art treatment by a team of specially trained clinicians

A Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) and therefore, can perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a RN. In addition, a Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse holds a masters or doctoral degree in a specialized area of nursing. The Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse functions autonomously and collaborates with other health professionals to provide high quality, cost effective advanced nursing care to patients, manage health care systems and influence health care decision-making through expert clinical reasoning, research and theory-based practice.
