Software Engineer - Image Processing

Facet provides a range of image editing features to our users: everything from basic adjustments like exposure and hue, to multistage ML-driven color grading and image synthesis pipelines. The controls need to be intuitive and expressive, the implementations need to be fast and efficient, and the results need to look fantastic.

In this role, you would be responsible for improving the quality and controllability of Facet’s existing editing features, as well as for proposing, implementing, and refining new ones. You would work closely with multiple groups, including users, frontend engineers, ML engineers, and rendering engine specialists, to build prototypes, iterate on them, and then implement them in our GPU-based rendering framework.

Facet aims to provide the power of ML with the controllability and quality of traditional image processing methods - this role offers the opportunity to define what that synthesis looks like.

Requirements

• Professional experience building fast, intuitive, high quality image processing software: photo editors, video editors, camera image processing pipelines, or similar.

• Interested in working with photographers to build intuitive, high-quality photo editing features.

• Ability to quickly prototype and evaluate new ideas.

• Strong eye for detail and image quality.

• Empathy for the designers, artists, and the visual creative workers who will be using our product.

Responsibilities

• Propose, design & build new image editing features.

• Work with users and frontend engineers to improve control and usability.

• Refine and improve the quality of images that Facet generates.

• Work with ML engineers to incorporate ML-based analysis into the editing process: selection, color adjustments, inpainting, and more.
