Get to Know the Opportunity

This position provides an opportunity to be an associate in the management of a $60+ billion fixed income investment portfolios supporting a variety of insurance businesses. You will participate in the overall portfolio investment strategy for a significant bloc of insurance client’s assets. The Insurance Portfolio Associate will contribute original ideas and analytical creativity in a team environment centered on portfolio specific problems/opportunities. The associate will be involved in providing effective analytical support for the management of insurance companies’ fixed income investment portfolios and support client reporting and relationship management for proprietary and third-party insurance company accounts. The ideal candidate can gain experience rapidly in complexity and responsibility with increased client contact and enhanced investment knowledge. This role will give employees the unique opportunity to begin their career with a broad portfolio management purview while gaining firsthand experience and formal development and training.

Please Note: This position has been designated as hybrid-office/home. Details of your in-office schedule will be finalized with your manager.

The Contributions You Will Make

  • Become a more knowledgeable multi-sector fixed income investor with the capability of offering differentiated insight to portfolio construction choices; direct, real-time learning opportunities will be afforded to candidates with a willingness to grow their knowledge base.
  • Portfolio and market analysis: provide analytic, quantitative, and informational support to investment strategy process, produce scheduled and ad hoc reports and presentations on portfolio position and performance, monitor and report financial market data, monitor portfolios for adherence to investment policy guidelines and participate in special projects as requested by management.
  • Use technology and programming skills to contribute to continuing improvement of existing processes, analytical and quantitative tools as well as develop new tools used for portfolio management and cashflow analysis models.
  • Assist in developing and conducting proactive, creative ongoing initiatives intended to identify and satisfy evolving client needs.
  • Work with investment operations staff to resolve any client-related administrative and investment operations issues.
  • Responsible for understanding and following firm policies and procedures while performing the role outlined above.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree with a specialty in fields such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial, quantitative analysis, economics, or finance.
  • Strong academic standing (GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred).
  • Interest in pursuing CFA, FSA, or CPA designation desired.
  • Enthusiasm for the financial markets and investment management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Course level experience with programming skills such as Excel VBA and SQL databases desired or an ability and willingness to learn.
  • Committed to personal growth and independent learning.
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze data.
  • Must be a great teammate and able to work in fast paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
