Job Duties and Qualifications

  • Under general supervision, repairs and performs maintenance on conventional tools, down-hole tools and other equipment used in the application for down-hole operations.
  • Areas of specialization within Product Service Line (PSL) specific shop operations may include: mechanical aptitude, pressure testing, surface equipment, and down-hole tools.
  • Performs maintenance, inspects surface equipment, and performs repairs.
  • Assembles and disassembles down-hole tools.
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines.
  • Promotes and takes an active part in the quality improvement process.

Requirements: 

  • Skills are typically acquired through a high school diploma or similar education, and
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Tool Technician II or equivalent tool technician experience.
  • Ability and authorization to accept and reject pressure tests on assemblies.
  • Basic computer skills are preferred.
  • Given the nature of oil field service work, the ability to communicate effectively with others is necessary.
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required.
  • Basic reading comprehension and writing skills are required.
  • Basic computer skills are preferred.
