About the role

Position Overview

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician 3 to perform advanced maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and building systems across our facilities. You’ll manage complex service requests, conduct preventive maintenance, and ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently while providing support and guidance to junior technicians.

There is more than one location associated with this position. This is either because there are multiple openings at different sites, or the successful candidate will be required to float across multiple UHS facilities. $25.27 - $37.90 per hour, depending on experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintaining, repairing, operating, and renovating facility equipment and infrastructure systems
  • Independently manage normal and minor repair decisions, while reporting major facility issues or equipment failures to the Supervisor of Facilities Services
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and equipment manuals to plan and execute maintenance and construction tasks effectively
  • Construct, install, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, and structural systems using appropriate hand and power tools, materials, and equipment
  • Review projects completed by outside vendors for compliance with specifications and create punch lists based on blueprint and site evaluations
  • Perform cross-disciplinary maintenance tasks, including light electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and machinist work to ensure safe and efficient building operation
  • Diagnose, clean, lubricate, and repair complex building systems and equipment such as HVAC units, sterilizers, sprinkler systems, food service equipment, and nurse call systems
  • Analyze and troubleshoot advanced mechanical and electrical system issues independently or as part of a team, providing immediate emergency repairs when needed
  • Operate and maintain boiler systems in accordance with certifications and all applicable federal, state, and hospital regulations and safety standards
  • Conduct routine inspections, recordkeeping, equipment testing, and preventative maintenance (P.M.) rounds; recommend system upgrades or procedural improvements as needed
  • Maintain mechanical rooms, shops, and equipment storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergency calls throughout the facility to minimize disruptions to patient care and operations

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 – 6 years’ experience in operational level maintenance and engineering and/or demonstrated experience as a Tech II or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Preferred:

  • Graduation from Trade School.
  • 6 years’ experience in operational level maintenance and engineering with 4 years’ being hospital experience.
  • Boiler or Stationary Engineer License.
  • In lieu of the above minimum requirements, an equivalent combination of experience and certification that fall within the limits of minimum requirements and preferred will be considered.
