JOB SUMMARY

 

Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Prepares Journal Entries and performs accounts reconciliations
• Oversees the dedicated email inbox for vendor communication (invoices, statements, etc.)
• Reviews invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and obtains approval for payment.
• Computes and records charges, refunds, cost of lost or damaged goods, freight charges, rentals, and similar items.
• Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
• Reconciles bank statements and general ledger accounts with various registers.
• Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
• Serves as accounting reviewer for travel reporting system.
• Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
• Supports the monthly close process by processing journal entries, completing account reconciliations and preparing supplemental financial reporting information
• Maintaining of Sarbanes-Oxley compliant internal control environment, including testing, reporting and remediation
• Implementation of accounting/finance and cross functional process improvement initiatives
• Supports month-end and year-end close process
• Ad hoc duties as required

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

• Experience with accounting software and data entry
• Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Advanced knowledge and experience of spreadsheets
• Ability to work independently
• Analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions;
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations;
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations;
• Ability to effectively present information to managers and customers, and the general public;
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations;
• Knowledge of SAP System and Microsoft Office Excel.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent (preferred)
• Minimum of 2+ years of related work experience
• Equivalent combination of education plus related work experience will be considered
