UG2 is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant to support financial operations related to vendor management, payment processing, and financial reconciliation. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments, and supporting MassDOT’s mission through high-quality accounting practices and customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual encumbrances for vendors, ensuring funds are accurately allocated to appropriate accounts.
- Generate and maintain purchase requisition documents and reports; monitor the status of procurement requests.
- Verify the accuracy of invoice charges and ensure timely processing of payments to vendors.
- Process vendor payments and identify opportunities to take advantage of available payment discounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders, contracts, invoices, or payments.
- Reconcile processed transactions by verifying entries and comparing financial system reports to account balances.
- Track all vendor payments and outstanding invoices on a bi-weekly basis to ensure up-to-date records.
- Maintain and update payment discount reports on a bi-weekly schedule.
- Reconcile vendor accounts by reviewing monthly statements and related financial activity.
- Serve as a point of contact for vendor inquiries, resolving payment issues efficiently and professionally.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal departments and external vendors to facilitate accurate billing and exceptional customer service.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in governmental or public sector accounting is a plus.
- Proficiency in financial software systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with vendors and internal teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
