The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work
The primary purpose of this position is to audit, analyze, process, and manage the disbursement of travel expenses and travel advances for the Department of Adult Correction. This position also provides technical assistance to DAC agencies regarding travel policies, fiscal procedures, and State Budget Manual travel guidelines to ensure compliance with state regulations.Job Duties include:
~ Processing employee academic program refunds, educational reimbursement claims, extradition reimbursements, motor fleet invoices, and employee moving expenses.
~Reconciling and approving WEX and P-Card transactions in the NCFS EXP module and ensure accurate upload to the Invoice module for payment processing.
~ Analyzing financial data, reconciling reports, and interfacing accounting data with the financial system.
~ Ensuring accuracy and compliance for travel reimbursements, which are subject to review by internal and external auditors.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $35,596 - $62,294

· Working knowledge of Accounting Methods, procedures, and accounting practices.
· Knowledge of accounting and other software (e.g. ERP, Excel, Word, Access).
· Experience Understanding, interpreting, and applying the laws and regulations pertaining to financial records.
· Experience identifying and correcting routine and recurring financial problems referring to more complex problems to a higher level.
· Experience presenting financial information clearly and concisely in oral and written form.
