POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the office of Financial Management reporting to the Revenue Management section. This is a full-time position that works closely with financial information and is responsible for ensuring that data is accurate, protected and in compliance with accounting standards. This position requires accounting knowledge and strong data analysis and research skills.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Managing the daily upload of accounting entries for RAMS (Revenue Accounting Management System) to FLAIR (State of Florida Accounting System);
  • Validating and depositing funds received by the Office of Financial Management (OFM);
  • Reviewing each receipt entered in RAMS for all checks, cash, money orders, journal transfers, and ACH batches to ensure that accounting information is correct and remit batch records for upload into FLAIR; and
  • Serving as a lead accountant for the Cash Receipts team.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program;
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to use computer software skills, including BEGINNER skills in database/spreadsheet software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Ability to research and find errors in reconciliation of expenditures and cash reports;
  • Knowledge of the Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR); and
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
