Accounting Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for property financial reporting.  Direct supervision of income control and finance staff including revenue audit functions, capital expenditures, inventory control and tax reporting

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree (focus in Finance or accounting preferred) or equivalent knowledge gained through professional experience 
• Five (5) years of demonstrated leadership in an accounting management capacity preferred 
• Must possess excellent oral, written and communication skills and clearly articulate policies and procedures to staff
• Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels of the organization and excel in a team oriented environment 
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Manages the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the property and proper distribution thereof 
• Assists in the coordination of monthly financial analysis and P&L reviews 
• Responsible for the substantiation of all general ledger account balances through proper account analysis
• Responsible for posting, creating, and reviewing journal entries
• Responsible for review and balance of the property balance sheet
• Coordinates daily maintenance of all cash accounts and monthly bank reconciliation 
• Responsible for reconciliation and proper recording of daily revenue 
• Responsible for asset inventories and proper recording and reconciliation thereof 
• Responsible for the direct supervision of the Revenue audit supervisor and auditors
• Provides direction and support for all staff to achieve Horseshoe’s goals and objectives through the fair application of all policies and procedures 
• Strives to improve and streamline departmental operations, through the continuous assessment of policies and procedures, work processes and program effectiveness/value

PHYSICAL & MENTAL:

• Must be able to operate a ten key adding machine and a computer keyboard 
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time and view information displayed on a computer screen
• Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area 
• Must have the manual dexterity to operate office equipment 
• Must present a well-groomed appearance

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to maneuver around various areas throughout the casino 
• Must be able to work in a noisy environment 
• 365 day per year operation with a schedule that can/will include working weekends and holidays
