Location: Hybrid (Washington DC area)
As an Accounting Manager, You Will:
- Oversee and manage all facets of full life cycle accounting practices to include AR/AP, cashflow, balance sheet, and income statements
- Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue and expense entries, as well as compile and analyze account data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Conduct timely month-end and year- end closing processes including account reconciliations and ledger adjustments
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and summarize overall financial health of the company for Executive Management
- Prepare and present forward-looking financial forecasts and participate in the decision making to adjust to future business expectations
- Manage the payroll process which includes all new hire enrollment, employee maintenance, and terminations
- Fully comply with all lawful payment and tax regulations
- Manage the annual budget preparation process, including assisting functional business areas in developing their forecasts and budget
- Secure and protect the company’s highly confidential information
- Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure proper controls and data integrity
- Manage the relationship with the external auditors and the annual audit process
- Function as Administrator for the Accounting Seed general ledger and reporting system
- Oversee the Accounting Assistant and ensure timeliness and accuracy of the following functions:
- Recording of employee and subcontractor time and payroll processing
- Data entry for Accounts Payable as well as Subcontractor invoices using Accounting Seed Software
- Entering all Bank transactions, expense report transactions and payables
- Coordination and resolution of billing/invoicing discrepancies with vendor or clients
- Preparation of reports for audit and tax purposes
To Be Successful, You Need:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Staff Accountant or similar position
- Excellent understanding of core Accounting principles and strong knowledge of operational best practices
- Experience working with leading accounting software packages
- Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills
- Highly dependable and disciplined professional and team player who knows how to work smart
- Ability to pivot quickly in response to business needs and stakeholder requests
- Honesty and integrity are essential due to the role’s exposure to highly
- Must be a highly motivated and capable of easily learning new skills while always striving to improve processes and make sound recommendations
- Strong aptitude with MS-Office Suite especially Excel
- Must be approachable as a resource for the organization and a strong business partner
