The Statutory Accounting and Reporting Accounting Analyst is responsible for statutory accounting, reporting, and analysis of Markel's U.S. Insurance legal entities.

Job Responsibilities

• Record applicable journal entries related to quarterly statutory close
• Prepare statutory financial statement schedules for U.S. Insurance legal entities ensuring compliance with statutory accounting principles.
• Research key variances to prior period data
• Assist with internal and external audit process
• Collaborate with teammates to identify process improvements for greater efficiency and effectiveness
• Assist with ad-hoc requests and projects as they arise

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

Work Experience

• 1-3 years of related work experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience with Statutory reporting software a plus
